It’s easier than ever to skip the alcohol and still have a fun night out with many local Des Moines cocktail bars curated menus of mocktails and spirit free drinks. After a month of nights out with your friends and no hangover the next day you might just want to keep dry January going all year. We’ve rounded up our favorite spots for an alcohol-free night out and our picks for their must try drinks!

The Bartender’s Handshake

This cozy Ingersoll hideaway was a pioneer in bringing NA drink menus to Des Moines, their mocktails do not feel like an afterthought but a staple. Their patio is utilized nearly year-round, and they serve some small bites alongside the drinks. Our favorite for best atmosphere.

Secret Admirer

Dry January might be over by the time we can utilize their huge patio but don’t wait to try their Mocktails. They have a menu of Spirt Free drinks as well as Low ABV to try.

Hello, Marjorie

This speakeasy style bar is off the beaten path and takes the award for best stock of NA Spirits and cozy vibes.

Our Mocktail Pick: Bramblin’ Man: Spiritless NA Whiskey, Seedlip Spice 94, Lemon, Blackberry, Rosemary, Black Walnut Bitters & Soda Water


Revival House

  • Location: 316 Court Ave, Des Moines, IA 50309

Attached to Blue Sushi this tiki themed bar is a hidden gem with small plates to snack on while you enjoy your mocktail. This place will truly make you feel like you’re on a tropical getaway.

Bellhop Neighborhood Tiki

  • Location: 440 E Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA 50309

The second tiki themed bar to make the list, decor as gorgeous as the drinks and a perfect east village location.

Clyde’s Fine Diner

  • Location: 111 E Grand Ave Suite 111, Des Moines, IA 50309

We love Clyde’s. A lot. Whether it’s fancy date, you just want REALLY good food, or you’re taking a business meeting, Clyde’s is always a good idea. Their mocktails don’t disappoint nor do their weekly specials. Take a look at the link below.
