Learn about traditional Chinese New Year celebrations and the role tea plays in Chinese culture with ambassador Phoebe Liang from CultureALL.  Make a paper tiger and enjoy traditional dumplings available for purchase from Dumpling House. A cash bar will be provided by Tangerine at the Art Center. Dumpling House and Tangerine will be serving from 4 – 7 pm. Reservations are not required for this drop-in event.

Most Fridays from now through February 25, stroll through the lush conservatory and Gardeners Show House illuminated with unique lighting and luminarias. Hockey: Iowa Wild vs. San Diego Gulls

The Iowa Wild is the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild. It’s like the Iowa Cubs of hockey. They’re playing at home in Wells Fargo arena on Friday and Saturday this week.

Egg Day at the Hall with Egg King

Regardless of if you haven’t gotten your hands on an Egg King sandwich or if you go every week, its fun to be at The Hall on Saturday mornings. Find yourself a table, order on the app, grab yourself some drinks and enjoy the large TV screens. Pretty chill and delicious.

Ok, maybe you’re a pro skier and snowboarder and this is ridiculous to you. But to us, complete novices in our late twenties? This is actually doable…and kind of fun! Drive north to Seven Oaks for a fun day of skiing, snowboarding, or snow tubing. Snow tubing tickets must be purchased online. Ski/snowboard tickets are first come, first serve. They serve food and some beer in the lodge! Hit up Whatcha Smokin’ for amazing BBQ on the way back to Des Moines. 


Tit’s Up at Teehee’s

Our favorite independent comedy club to visit any time of year. This locally renowned show is the only one of its kind. The first Tits Up! of 2022 will be a special single-show presentation that you will love. If you’ve been trying to get tickets to see Coral Thede perform, now is your time. More seating has opened!

Head to Jasper Winery on Saturday night for a cocktail hour and dance class! A dance instructor from the Des Moines Ballroom will be teaching the Foxtrot. Tickets are $35.00, and spots are limited. No experience required! Grab your best dancing shoes (that will stay on your feet) and enjoy a wonderful date night of fun and laughs. Tickets include a glass of wine and an hour long class. Jim Jefferies: The Moist Tour at Hoyt Sherman Place

Jim’s ninth stand up special Intolerant came out on Netflix last year.”

“Crazy B**** Asians” Drag Brunch at Sakari
